Our founder John, a fishing fanatic,
and 2 of his buddies Mervin & Clive, came
up with an idea to create their own cut-and-sew
bag manufacturing in 1986. Initial intention
was to flood the outdoor world with fishing
gears due to zero availability of such product
at that time. Strangely, the first production
output was nothing near to what he intended
to do a cooler bag. The designer at the
time didnt have a clue of what fishing
was and went on to do something unfamiliar in
the industry. Amazingly, that first weird piece
of so-called cooler bag revolutionized the way
food and beverages are transported today, and
cracked open a whole new era of insulated products.
As business picked up, John was totally occupied
with his new creation but stayed focus and remained
committed to what his initial purpose was. He
spent the weekends designing his own fishing
gear, drew its patterns, made the prototypes
and tested them in the South China Seas. The
process was snails pace. The bags didnt
get much public exposure.
Not long after in the early 90s, a couple
of big outdoors fans hired to do designs decided
to incorporate the insulated foams into the
fishing gear to revamp the sole purpose of having
the bag for not only fishing, but a cooler,
storage, and even a navigational unit. The new
gear, remarkably, managed to manoeuvred its
way into the local clubs, used by professional
outdoors enthusiasts for the first time.
News spread like wildfire. Increasingly, many
local sports teams wanted to share the opportunity
of owning a piece of our creations. All of a
sudden demand exceeded supply because the gear
was only available as sponsored items, not sold
in any stores. But, that message didnt
prompt John to change his strategy to expose
his wares in retail; instead, a research was
carried out to look into the various methods
of building diversified gears, suitable not
only to one category of professionals, but for
the entire outdoors industry. New categories
were eventually born in the late 90s.
The first new breeds were boats; followed by
portable chairs and tables, hydration gears,
backpacks, bike bags, cooler bags and hunting
bags.
With the products, our designers took them
to the mountain and into the woods to take the
opportunities to test the durability of the
materials, the constructions and functionality
of the designs, and not to mention, the color
tones, before they are re-engineered for final
productions. These same designers are in-fact
professional outdoors fishermen, hikers, climbers,
joggers and hunters and they have great knowledge
of the wild that laymen would never think of.
Today, 22 years after, PrecisionPak outdoors
bags have made a strategic presence not only in
the North American market, but markets across
the globe.
Catching a fish
certainly is great. But, having it stored in
a cool looking bag does look even smarter. The designs today reflect the real innovation,
energy and boldness of an outdoors enthusiast.
The bags are constructed in such detail features
representing all aspects and diverse needs of
the user.
