March 2010 - "Guangzhou Fish Show"
The Chinese market is so different from what we have here in North America where distributors and retailers buy what they liked without even questioning about prices.
Surf fishing remarkably is a huge market in the south, especially in Hainan Island, and the shores of Guangdong Province. The OS series we made for New England, with a little bit of modification on fabric and colors, was one of the best product lines that captured a huge number of buyers.
We also took the opportunity to introduce kayak-fishing to the organizers and the various fishing associations. Strangely, none of them knew anything about the growing trend of kayak-fishing worldwide. But, after listening to our stories and witnessing the various storage management systems we introduced, the fishing associations said they would be ready to spread the news to all the fishing clubs nationwide.
This show got us exposed not only to the buyers from the Chinese market, but also buyers from Japan, Russia, Eastern Europe, South-East-Asia and the newly independent countries from the former Soviet Republic. It wasn’t a large scale tradeshow, but the traffic at our booth was 20 times that of ICAST in Orlando last year.
